Giannis had one of the best blocks in NBA Finals history, a near triple double. Look at this, man's was here when the lob started, he blocked this. And they still aren't willing to give him his props on being a playoff performer? Being the face of the league is a combination of star play and charisma. The best players of the NBA combined with likeability and oh yeah the NBA promoting the heck out of them, which they failed to do with the younger generation of players. When LeBron dropped back to back 40 point games, people put him into the GOAT conversation. When Giannis dropped back to back 40 point games in the finals, apparently he still hasn't proven that he can play in the playoffs? See the difference. It's hypocrisy at its finest. If you simply look at the best finals performances of all time in a series, Giannis is easily in this mix. 29 and 13 on 56%...leading to winning basketball. The media dictates what we see, whatever topics are supposed to get them views.

Now Giannis, he's Greek. He's another one of this wave of international players. Joel Embiid is from Cameroon, Luka from Slovenia and you can tell when they speak that they have accents even when they speak perfect English. Giannis be making jokes. But why does that matter if they can speak perfect English? What matters is whether people wanna see them and let's get this clear, people wanna see Giannis. He's 5th in jersey sales despite being in Milwaukee which is a small market.

Let's look at Kawhi's run in 2019 and compare it to Giannis. I understand that Kawhi is averaging 1 more point, I understand that he hit a Game 7 game winner, and I understand that he shot 43% from the field from the finals, and he got catapulted into the best in the league, the crown is Kawhi's, the he's more clutch than Kobe. Outlandish comment, I know, but it was made. With Giannis, you got, he's Robin. And then there's the other perhaps more obvious knock against Giannis: his playstyle. No he's not shooting 3s or mid range shots, the game that we all fell in love with cause of Jordan, Kobe, Curry. Nah he's just running into the paint and dunking.

It's not like he's sizing people up, driving by, hitting turnaround jumpers, bumping other big players out of the way, making chasedown blocks, making solid passes. But noooo he's Robin. And Perkins gets upset when someone calls him out on it. Own it bro, you said it a week ago and now you changing tunes. Recency bias headass.

Why didn't we berate Shaq? Man couldn't shoot outside the paint, couldn't hit free throws, needed teammates to get him the ball and needed a guard to take more of the load in the clutch. The hypocrisy is real. Because Giannis is criticized for all these things while still doing more. He is at times taking over the game in so many different ways besides a post up.

And perhaps the icing on the cake, Giannis is loyal. Man isn't trying to leave to build a superteam, maybe the media hates him for that, but he's staying in a small market and trying to build a winning team there. He signed a 5 year extension. The story sells itself. Giannis came from the dirt, begging on the streets, and is now a 2 time MVP, a DPOY who is molding himself into an unstoppable force in the playoffs. Talk about that.
