How to Upgrade Your 2009-2013 Lexus ES Infotainment System with Apple Carplay : A Complete Guide

In today’s video, we’ll be upgrading the infotainment system on a 2009-2013 Lexus ES. Follow along as we walk you through each step of the process to bring your car’s tech up to date.

Tools and Materials Needed:

New infotainment system from scumaxcon.com
Screwdrivers
Trim removal tools
GPS and 4G antennas
USB and RCA cables
Step-by-Step Guide:

Remove Original Control Panel

Start by taking out the air vent. Disconnect its plug.
Start the engine, shift to neutral, and remove the cigarette lighter panel. Shift back to park and turn off the engine. Disconnect the plug.
Remove Panels and Screws

Remove the gray plastic panels on each side, which are secured by screws.
Remove the screws in the air vent area. Take out the original screen by disconnecting all plugs at the back.
Install New Screen

Connect the GPS and 4G antennas. For proper installation, route the wires through the passenger glove box to the A-pillar.
Connect the reverse camera input wire and the USB transmission line, routing them to the passenger glove box.
Connect the RCA and quad-slot line to the glove box. Connect the new screen’s power cable to the protocol box and the original plug.
Reconnect and Configure

Connect the OBD cable from the new power to the car’s OBD interface.
Install the new screen and secure it with screws on both sides. Reconnect the air vent and cigarette lighter panel plugs.
Start the engine, shift to neutral, reinstall the panels, and then shift back to park.
Final Configuration

Configure the protocol settings by entering 8888 in the factory settings. Select your car’s brand, series, and model year.
Ensure you are connected to Wifi (you can use your phone as a hotspot).
Learn the steering wheel buttons by tapping the corresponding icons on the screen and pressing the steering wheel buttons until they turn green.
Adjust the amplifier settings for optimal audio volume.

Use local maps or other navigation apps.
