The Power of Space with California Institute of Technology | Ali Hajimiri
In space, because there is no atmosphere and night never falls, photovoltaics can harvest eight times as much solar power as they can on Earth. Might solar panels in space be able to transfer that energy efficiently to Earth? In this presentation for the World Economic Forum, Ali Hajimiri – Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of Information Science of Technology at Caltech – explores the potential for transferring space-harvested solar energy using microwaves.
