Doc Holliday sought refuge in Colorado. After being part of the "Earp Vendetta Ride", Holliday, along with Wyatt Earp and Warren Earp headed to Colorado for safety, as they were wanted for murder in Arizona. Holliday split up with the Earp's and in May 1882 was in Pueblo Colorado. Holliday had an eventful time in the weeks to follow: he was arrested by Perry Mallon, a con-man in search of reward money-Mallon pretended to be Deputy Sheriff but soon his lies unraveled. Bat Masterson then had to help Holliday by creating a fake charge of larceny so that the "Deadly Dentist" wouldn't be extradited to Arizona. After this excitement, when Holliday was once again a free man, a reporter from the Gunnison Daily News-Democrat was introduced to him on the street, an interview with John Henry "Doc" Holliday was published on June 18th in the paper. This is that interview, with an introduction to help fill in the gaps. Hear Doc speak in his own words.
