USS Sequoia - Presidential Yacht Relocated
See more about the Presidential Yacht move on our website ... https://www.wolfehousebuildingmovers.com/project/u-s-s-sequoia-presidential-yacht-relocation/
Wolfe House & Building Movers latest Historic move involved the U.S.S. Sequoia in Deltaville, VA. The Sequoia or know by some as “America’s Most Famous Boat”, sailed many of our US Presidents around for business and leisure events. Several notable events were: John F. Kennedy spending his last birthday on board the Sequoia, Richard Nixon spent the night on the Sequoia the evening before his resignation, and Lyndon B. Johnson making several important decisions regarding the Vietnam War aboard the Sequoia. From the Herbert Hoover administration to James Carter’s, the Sequoia hosted Presidents and their families until it was auctioned off in 1977. Restoration of the Sequoia is now a reality after years of legal battles and is being transported to a new location in Maine for the work. Wolfe worked with the shipyard in Deltaville, VA to load the yacht onto an inland barge and take it to a bulkhead in Cambridge, MD. From there, the Sequoia will be loaded onto an ocean barge and transported up the coast to Maine where the restoration process will begin. The 104′ long vessel weighed in at 182,000 lbs and was moved on and off the barge using the remote-controlled Buckingham Hydraulic Power Dolly System.
