Particularly the early models of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The reason is that Leonard Bailey was a cabinet maker by trade, and it was his design contributions that have made the Stanley planes the best of the cast Iron woodworking hand planes. If you’re shopping for vintage hand planes, this guide will help you identify the type and approximate age before you decide to purchase.
