Railroad in 2016 is quite different than it was even just a decade ago. With most class 1 railroads phasing out older engines and using mostly newer widecabs from GE and EMD, seeing oddball engines can only be found on regional or shortline's.
The Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad, located in southeastern PA, has a roster of rare and usual engines of both GE and EMD. Arguably the most intriguing pair of engines the railroad uses on a daily basis are two former Conrail GE C39-8s, otherwise known as "humpbacks". Built in 1986, PN 8211 and PN 8212 were both retired by Norfolk Southern in 2008. Since then, they were passed around before getting acquired by the PN.
This video shows both PN 8211 & 8212 (as well as PN 8218) working between Lansdale, PA and Telford PA with them going through Hatfield and Souderton as well. Enjoy!
