Tires: winter vs. all-season vs. all-weather

All tires are not made the same. Different types of tires work better in certain conditions than others. There are several options to make your car go (and stop).

• All-season tires work best in temperatures above +7. Below that temperature, their stopping power isn’t as great.
• Winter tires are made to handle icy roads and really cold temperatures, but don’t stand up well on warmer days.
• All-weather tires bridge the gap, with greater stopping power than all-seasons in the cold, and standing up better on warm days than winter tires.
Tip: AMA members save on a set of four tires at Kal Tire.
