Disney Infinity Pirates of the Caribbean Ship Gameplay

Sail ships on the high seas, choose and customize the crew, and then take part in daring missions on land. Find the mystical treasure before Davy Jones takes control of the seas and every pirate’s fate!

Jack Sparrow must stop Davy Jones and the Kraken by collecting pieces of the Kraken's Bane and uniting them, and then using the Kraken's Bane to suspend the Kraken while battling Davy Jones and his fleet. The Play Set can also be played as Barbossa and even Davy Jones himself. Along the way, you complete missions of several NPCs like Joshamee Gibbs, Tia Dalma, Pintel and Ragetti.

This is a guide to The Pirates of the Caribbean Ship Parts - items that can be found in red capsules in the Pirates of the Caribbean Play Set that allow players to customize the appearance of the player's ship.

The player's ship can be customized to look like different types of ships (or a combination of different types). Each ship type has five pieces. To customize the ship's appearance, approach the delivery platform below the ship's helm and select "customize ship".

Collecting all of the "Black" ship pieces and applying them to the ship will earn the "Darken the Sails!" Gold Star.

Collecting any 5 sets of ship pieces will complete the One Ship, Many Faces Side Mission (which is different than the Gold Star Mission of the same name).

The idea of a pirate-themed "walk-through"— a wax museum of sorts— was considered but soon shelved. As Disney Legend Marty Sklar later explained, a walk-through story “can be fractured—some people see one thing and miss another, while others can have a different experience.”

While the idea of a pirate-orientated attraction remained appealing, it became clear that a walk-through would make it difficult to tell a sequenced story that all guests would understand. But inspiration struck in the form of the happiest cruise that ever sailed—thanks to the overwhelming success and popularity of “it’s a small world,” creating a water-based dark ride to house the Imagineers’ swashbuckling new creations made perfect sense.

Another plus-point was the high capacity of “it’s a small world”—each boat held a large number of guests, meaning the attraction was a "fast loader". As Marty Sklar remembers, “the boat ride/water trough system… was especially effective, capable of handling over 3,000 guests per hour, compared to the 500 or fewer a walk-through might accommodate.”
