2003 ALFA ROMEO 156 1.9 JTD Ex-Lotus Development Car at italicar
In all our years of dealing with 156's, we've never before seen another one quite like this.
An exceptionally low-mileage, bog-standard JTD 8v with a leather-less steering wheel, cloth interior and genuine Alfa hubcaps still covering the steel wheels; the fact that such an entry-level example has survived this well is truly astonishing, and gives it an almost unique charm.
But....added to this is the fact that for nearly six years, this Alfa 156 was used as a 'Development Vehicle' by Lotus Cars here in Norfolk. There are a host of mysterious gadgets and gizmoes secreted into the interior (90% of which, we have no idea what they do!!), in fact it's all rather James Bond. Testing the various buttons we half expected the passenger seat to suddenly eject or a machine gun to emerge from the bumper. After Lotus were finished with it, it was sold to a Senior Engineer from the English sportscar firm who kept it himself until 2017.
A very unusual example of an Alfa Romeo 156, with an intriguing, alost certainly unique, slice of Lotus provenance. We're hardly likely to ever find another car quite like this!
