Fatekeeper is a first-person action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. Players take on the role of a powerful druid warrior who explores ancient ruins, battles dangerous creatures, learns powerful magic, and shapes their character through different combat and progression paths. The game combines melee combat, spellcasting, exploration, and RPG character development. It is often compared to classic games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic because of its physics-based combat and immersive first-person gameplay.

The game is being developed by Paraglacial and published by THQ Nordic. The studio was founded by former developers from Grimlore Games, known for working on the SpellForce 3 series.

According to the developers, only 13 people worked on Fatekeeper. The studio has described itself as a very small team, which is one reason the game launched in Early Access to gather community feedback during development.
