A BONEAPART,S GULL AND SOME OF THE USUALS

Obviously a lot of the usual birds at Lodmoor just in from the sea,but a Bonapart,s gull albeit from a long way off was a new one for me.Also Common Tern and Black headed gulls nesting.
Bonaparte's gull is a member of the gull family Laridae found mainly in northern North America. At 28 to 38 cm in length, it is one of the smallest species of gull. Its plumage is mainly white with grey upperparts. During breeding season, Bonaparte's gull gains a slate-grey hood. The sexes are similar in appearance.
The common name of the Bonaparte's Gull honors Charles Lucien Bonaparte, a cousin of Napoleon Bonaparte who made important contributions to American ornithology while an active member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia during the 1820s.
