Complete Scotch Yoke Mechanism Assembly
Dissection: JigSaw Assembly:
Output must be supported against radial and axial external forces
- Mechanism should be ‘low cost’ (cost can be in terms of part cost, number of parts,
etc.)
- Mechanism should operate with minimum or no maintenance for the lifespan of the
product
- Mechanism should have a minimum lifespan of X years (can estimate an expected
life or leave it unspecified)
- Mechanism should be sealed against the environment or at least resistant to dust
and debris from cutting
- Mechanism should be safe for the user if the output jams and/or should be fail-safe
with an engineered failure point
