Fakarava is a remote atoll in French Polynesia famous for the wall of sharks gathering in the incoming current. Fakarava has a lagoon with a surface of 1,112 sq.km but a land area of about 16 sq.km. With only two passes for all that water to pass through the currents are strong. The population is less than 1.000 and due to the remote location there has never been any industrial fishing - it shows - the marine life is amazing.
