BBC defends decision to drop lyrics from patriotic songs at Last Night of the Proms- BBC News
The BBC says "Rule Britannia" and "Land of Hope and Glory" will be sung in full at next year's Proms. The BBC's out-going Director General, Lord Hall, said the decision to perform only orchestral versions this year was a creative one, because coronavirus restrictions made it impossible to put on a full choral performance. Reports have suggested the lyrics have been dropped from this year's Proms because of sensitivity about Britain's imperial past. Our Media Editor Amol Rajan reports.
