There was actor Ward Bond who was known as one of America’s most beloved character actors. In cinema, he was known best as Bert in It’s A Wonderful Life and Captain Clayton in The Searchers. He died while working on the television series Wagon Train.
Actor Joseph Kearns died during the production of Dennis The Menace in which he played George Wilson. His character was originally written out of the show with the explanation that he and his wife had ‘gone away.’
Dick Powell was one of the many faces of late-night entertainment. He hosted an anthology series called The Dick Powell Show. After his sudden death, the show was renamed The Dick Powell Theater and had a series of different hosts.
There were also other stars ranging from Larry Keating to Henry Kulky to Marion Lorne and Barbara Pepper who left us suddenly during the 1960s. These actor’s sudden demise is certainly something to lament over.
