Russia: Agafia Lykova lives solo in Siberian wilderness *ARCHIVE*

Agafia Lykova, the 74-year-old sole hermit and the last survivor in her 'Old Believers' family lives in total isolation in the National Park of the Western Sayan Mountains, deep in Siberian Taiga.

Agafia became a national phenomenon as details of her life became available through books and documentaries dedicated to the last member of the Lykov family.

Born in 1944, for the first 35 years of her life, Lykova did not have contact with anyone outside of her family. and since then she has been outside of her settlement only a handful of times.

Living in harsh conditions with no one around but geologist Yerofey Sedov, Agafia has managed to survive on her own, calling for help only twice - in 2014 and in December 2018, as she ran out of food.
