Forging a Kitchen Knife
I forge my first kitchen knife from 1084 high carbon steel. This specific piece was able to take a hamon, or a line showing differential hardening of the steel. I made a bolster out of g-10, used a brass liner, and purpleheart on this hidden tang knife. This knife is a gift for my grandparents, and I hope they like it.
I need to make more kitchen knives, and am interested in learning more about different types of kitchen knives. I still prefer making hunting and camping knives, but I learn a lot from thinner, more precise knives.
