Are you doing your wheel alignments correctly? Do you know what slip plates and turn plates are?

After lowering your car off the jack your suspension and wheels will not be in their natural position due to the way they tuck up under the car when there is no load present. If you have just made some changes to your caster, toe, camber or other suspension components and want to measure and double-check they are correct, then this small issue will give you false readings and inaccurate results.

A common method to fix this is to simply roll the car back and forth while also rocking it to allow the wheels to 'un-tuck' themselves allowing you to carry on, however, this is not always a practical task when you have your vehicle rigged up with your string alignment system.

Another faster alternative is to use slip plates and turn plates with the former being something those on a budget can make at home. In this video, we'll dive in a little deeper and give you the knowledge to know if these are tools you require for your race car.
