Is it worth going to Manuel Antonio National Park? We certainly think so. There's so much to do and see that you can barely cover it all in a day! From three beautiful beaches to hours of rainforest trails and multiple lookout points; Manual Antonio has it all.

Should you get a guide? We didn't pay for a guide purely to save money ($50-70 per person) but there were plenty around with impressively long spotting scopes. Undoubtedly you would see more creatures and learn some interesting facts that aren't available on the scattering of information boards. If you don't, you're still guaranteed to see monkeys, a number of tropical birds and an iguana or three.

TOP TIP IF YOU DRIVE - you will be mercilessly heckled for over a mile before the park gates by men wearing 'park uniform' standing in your way on the road. This is because there is no official parking (despite what a number of hand-painted signs claim) and therefore you'll need to find somewhere. We drove right up to the gates and then found one very nearby for 3,000 Colones for the day ($4-5). This was a stones throw from the gates so definitely worth saving your energy for the park itself!
