in the Philippines, the Corolla was originally available in three grades – the 1.3 XL, the 1.3 XE and the 1.6 GLi, all launched December 1997. An additional 1.3 LE variant were introduced in 1999, same as the XL and XE grade, but with a 5-speed manual and 14" alloy wheels. The 1.3 XE was the same as the XL grade with a dual SRS Airbag - unusual for a 1.3-liter car in the market at the time - 14" alloy wheels, a Fujitsu Ten 4-channel stereo and 5-speed manual transmission.
