And if everything goes to plan, The Island's oceans could look and play completely differently before the end of the year.

During a recent interview, ARK co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz revealed that Genesis Ascended's new physics-based water system is planned to become a core technology across ARK.

The goal is to first test the system within Genesis Ascended Part 1 and then gradually roll it out to older maps, including The Island, through future updates.

For years, ARK's oceans have largely remained unchanged, but that could soon be about to change in a very big way.

With Genesis Ascended launching on July 2nd and bringing these systems into the game for the first time, we may be witnessing the beginning of one of the biggest gameplay overhauls ARK has ever received.
