India and China are the top two countries in the world in terms of population and both the countries are home to two of the most buzzing and growing football leagues. The chinese top division football league is called the chinese super league and it’s indian counterpart is called the Indian super league.
China has a long footballing history. National level Football matches started in the country from 1951 with the formation of Chinese Jia-A League. However, at the start of the century, Jia-A League was marred by match-fixing allegations, and subsequently, a new league was created. The CSL started its journey in 2004.

Now the CSL is considered to be one of the top Football League in Asia, with Chinese Teams clinching the Asian Champions-league on 3 Occasion. And there has been unprecedented amounts of money being spent on the Chinese Super League,with large companies investing heavily in purchasing clubs, who can then spend freely. They compete financially with top European clubs in acquisition of top playing talent.

India also has a rich footballing history. But there was no nationwide football league in India until the late 90’s. India got its first nationwide football league in 1997. From the very beginning of the league it was not much popular and its reach was limited due to inadequate television broadcast. Sponsors and investors also ignored the league as in spite of being a national league its popularity was limited to only a few regions of india. In 2007 the league was re-christened as I-League. Still nothing changed but the name. Finally in 2014 India got its professional modern football league targeted for a larger audience, The Indian super league. Since its inception ISL has been a big hit. In its first few years ISL has made it to the top 30 leagues in the world. It's currently ranked 25th while its chinese counterpart is ranked 7th.
