Kim Wilde - Cambodia (Top Of The Pops, 1981)
A nice performance from Kim on TOTP, apparently drafted in at short notice after the show refused to play the promo video for this song (it is said due to the appearance of a snake which climbs up the Wilde inner-leg during the video!)
This song - which reached a disappointing number 12 in the British charts - nevertheless seems nowadays to be regarded as a bit of a forgotten classic in the UK, and is often mentioned in lieu of other Kim Wilde songs which charted higher. This is probably because it was a serious song rather than the bubblegum pop of earlier outings like "Kids In America" and "Chequered Love".
Abroad, the record did better, getting to Number One in Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and France, and Number Two in Germany.
