Annabelle: Creation (2017) is the prequel to 2014's Annabelle, which is a spin-off of 2013's The Conjuring, which is adapted from the "case files" of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

This movie takes us back to the 50s where we see a group of orphan girls take shelter in the home of the man who created the Annabelle doll, so naturally this episode of Things You Missed reveals even more secrets about Annabelle's past, including info about the demon Malthus, a breakdown of the images and symbolism in the movie, and the hidden ghosts in the house that you might not have spotted!

This is also the first time I've covered a feature film directed by a YouTuber (David F Sandberg / Ponysmasher) so I'll also be exploring how he adapted many of his old short film concepts for the big screen. There are also a few easter eggs that reference his first feature film, Lights Out (2016) and some interesting director trademarks you may not have known about.

“Annabelle Comes Home” is the third installment of New Line Cinema’s hugely successful “Annabelle” films starring the infamous sinister doll from the “Conjuring” universe. Gary Dauberman, the screenwriter of the “Annabelle” films, “IT” and “The Nun,” makes his directorial debut on the film, which is produced by Peter Safran (“Aquaman”), who has produced all the films in the “Conjuring” franchise, and “Conjuring” universe creator James Wan (“Aquaman”).

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target—the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.
