Creative Drone Photography Composition | Lines Shapes & Patterns | DJI MAVIC PRO

This week I take to the air with my DJI Mavic Pro looking to create some abstract images specifically seeking out creative landscape photography compositions from lines, shapes and patterns.

Drone photography presents an alternative, interesting and often intriguing perspective to your photography and affords a creative opportunity to produce some quite exciting, compelling and engaging imagery.

First stop, the recently renovated Bickershaw Country Park

The Lancashire Wildlife Trust has been creating the 41 hectares of wetland on the site of the former Bickershaw Colliery.
The project is part of the Environment Agency funded Slow the Flow campaign, which creates natural flood management. Slow the Flow looks at innovative ways to use land for water storage during times of heavy rainfall.
At Bickershaw, the Wildlife Trust has produced large areas of wetland habitat which can hold more than 200 million additional litres of water, creating areas for wildlife and protecting 30 homes at high risk of flooding.
Drainage ditches have been turned into meandering streams, with pools and dams and flood plains have been created. New great-crested newt ponds have been dug under guidance by Natural England.

The pit opened in the 1830s and was one of the biggest on the Lancashire coalfields, employing thousands of people above and below ground, before it closed in 1992.

Second location was Pennington Waterside & Marina
Pennington is a newly built marina with moorings for narrowboats, widebeams and cruisers. Part of a wider residential development on the outskirts of Leigh, there are plans for a café, community centre, and a family-friendly pub and shop. With new, non-slip pontoons, a smart facilities block and the friendly team, who are onsite regularly at the marina office, it’s a modern and popular marina. Mooring here, you are on the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, linking directly to the Bridgewater Canal, a much-loved stretch for cruisers, and convenient for the wider waterways. The local town, Leigh is on your doorstep, Manchester is just 20 miles away, and you can reach the motorway network in under 10 minute.

And then off to the sewage works and solar panel farm for the final images of the day.

My channel aims to inspire you to get outside, into nature, into the countryside, enjoy the great outdoors and experience landscape photography.
I share my photography thoughts, experiences, insights and observations hoping to encourage and motivate you to take a few images along the way - if you have enjoyed this video please consider subscribing to enjoy future episodes.
