The other,shorter nosed species is the Forcipiger flavissimus. The Forceps Butterflyfish.

Both species of Hawaiian Longnose Butterflyfish have the same Hawaiian name- Lauwiliwilinukunuku’oi’oi. Freely translated this name means “long-snouted fish shaped like a wiliwili leaf”. The wiliwili tree, by the way, is endemic to Hawai’i. It’s name means “repeatedly twisted”.
