The proper metal turbines spin well and get up to many thousand rpm, supposedly upwards of 50,000rpm. Hard to check when driving, lol. The plastic ones do not freely rotate and will barely turn in high wind flow rendering them completely pointless. The fake plastic ones have flooded the internet and are being sold under pictures and descriptions of the original metal ones. Be sure to check the photos and description although this can often be wrong. I bought 3 "metal" ones which all turned out to be plastic before I finally got the correct one.
