Since January 2025, 1,080 Indians have been deported or returned from US: MEA

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India maintains close cooperation with the US on migration-related matters. “On deportation of Indian nationals who have an illegal status there, who travelled there illegally, we take them back once we receive details about them. We verify their nationalities as we have told you before, and only then we try to get them back,” he said. Providing an update, he added, “Since January 2025, we have 1,080 Indians who have returned or have been deported from the US. Of these, 62 per cent of them have come on commercial flights.”
