Tchaikovsky: Rococo Variations.
The version that has always been interpreted is not the original composer, is an arrangement made by the cellist to whom the work was dedicated, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen. In late 1876, Fitzenhagen amendments added to the solo part of the score and the book was finally released in November 1877, before the Russian Musical Society concert in which the composer was not present, having left Russia to recover from his disastrous marriage that had brought him to the brink of self-destruction. After the premiere, did some additional corrections Fitzenhagen altering changes and merging others, presenting the work to the publisher Jurgenson then modified in a "corrected and approved by the author." According to Tchaikovsky type cellist when touched Fitzenhagen work in Germany, at the Festival of Wiesbaden, Franz Liszt approached him and said: "At last we hear real music again." This probably persuaded the composer to adopt the altered version by Fitzenhagen.
