WATCH: Level 4 severe weather threat Wednesday into Thursday | Central Georgia Weather

Rounds of storms on the docket for Wednesday have prompted a level 4 severe weather threat in Taylor, Macon, Dooly, and Crisp Counties. This is part of the larger level 4 that extends back into Alabama and Mississippi. A level 3 severe weather threat is in place for others including Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Dublin, Cochran, Eastman, Soperton, Vidalia, Abbeville, Roberta, and Thomaston.

A level 2 severe weather threat is in place for those north and east of Macon, including Forsyth, Milledgeville, Sandersville, Sparta, and Eatonton.

TORNADOES: There is a low risk of a tornado today for most of the area included in the level three zone. However, those in the level 4 threat area do have a notable threat of a tornado, one that the Storm Prediction Center is highlighting as a possibility of being on the stronger side (EF2+).

DAMAGING WIND: The damaging wind threat is what's prompting the levels 3 and 4 threat to be issued. There is a very high risk of damaging winds for points south and west of Macon. We are one notch away from maxed out on the scale. Gusts could top 75 mph in this area.

We are still looking at the possibility of strong wind gusts elsewhere across central Georgia. Don't let the higher threat to the southwest distract you.

LARGE HAIL: The threat for large hail continues today, especially for areas west of Interstate 75 and south of Macon. Hail sizes could approach 2 inches and diameter like what we saw in southern Crisp County yesterday.

This is not a slam dunk forecast but confidence is higher with this than previous days. It's going to be a severe weather day in the southeast. We are going to be on the edge of it, meaning we could see all of this just off to the west and thankfully miss out. Alternatively, we could see more in the way of the severe weather and points to the west miss out. Today is going be very much of a now-casting day.

TIMING: We are going to be looking at waves of storms through the day with the greatest severe weather potential from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. However, there will be another round of storms overnight into Thursday that could take advantage of any untapped energy. Again, very much of a nowcasting event. Check back with 13WMAZ multiple times through the day as this forecast will be changing.

We will get the last of the storms out of here tomorrow and quiet down for Father's Day weekend with highs near average and a 30-40% chance of rain.
