How to Add Bullets And Numbering on Google Docs [easy]

To add bullets and numbering in Google Docs in late 2025, you can use the toolbar icons or rapid keyboard shortcuts to organize your list. On your computer, simply click the Bulleted list (•) or Numbered list (1.) icon in the formatting toolbar to start a new list, or highlight existing text and click these icons to convert it. For even faster formatting, use Ctrl + Shift + 8 for bullets or Ctrl + Shift + 7 for numbering on Windows/ChromeOS (use Command instead of Ctrl on a Mac). To create sub-points or nested levels, press the Tab key at the start of a list item to indent it, and use Shift + Tab to "outdent" and return to the main level. If you want to customize your style—such as using emojis for bullets or Roman numerals for numbering—click the small dropdown arrow next to the list icons in the toolbar to choose a different preset, or right-click any bullet/number and select "More bullets" to search the entire special character library.
