На примере конкретного шлема, вдохновлённого работами Филиппо Негроли, я показываю, как эти две технологии взаимодействуют между собой не только визуально, но и технологически. Золочение через амальгаму и последующий нагрев не просто фиксируют золото — они одновременно могут создавать тот самый глубокий тёмный фон за счёт термической оксидации стали. То есть в ряде исторических случаев воронение могло быть не отдельной операцией, а побочным эффектом процесса золочения.

In this video, I break down one of the most striking — and at the same time underrated — techniques in the history of armor: the combination of gilding and bluing.
Using a specific helmet inspired by the works of Filippo Negroli, I demonstrate how these two techniques interact not only visually, but also technologically. Fire gilding with amalgam and the subsequent heating process do more than just fix the gold in place — they can simultaneously create that deep dark background through the thermal oxidation of steel. In other words, in some historical cases, bluing may not have been a separate operation, but rather a byproduct of the gilding process.
