Tollund Man: The Bog Body So Perfect Police Thought It Was New

Bog bodies preservation sounds unreal, but Tollund Man is the chilling proof.
In 1950, peat cutters near Silkeborg, Denmark uncovered his face so lifelike that police opened a murder investigation.
Then came the shock: he died around 405–380 BCE.
The bog’s sphagnum moss, acidic water, and near-zero oxygen preserved his skin and soft tissue while his bones partly dissolved.
Even his last meal—barley and flax porridge—was still traceable.
One wetland became a 2,400-year human time capsule.
