Douglas Super DC-3 N28TN makes amazing wheels up landing at Merrill Field. The plane departed Anchorage International Airport on 12/8/2021 heading to Kodiak. It appears the DC-3 had an engine failure on take off and couldn't maintain altitude. The pilot's decision to put the airplane down at Merrill Field seems to have been the best option. You can see from pictures that the airplane knocked through some trees just before the runway. It appears that the pilot most likely decided to keep the wheels up so that he wouldn't have the extra drag. in order to make it into Merrill Field.
