Q&A about Aviator Harness for Parrots

http://ParrotWizard.com/Harnesses

Last week, I asked my audience to submit their harness related questions. Now, I am joined by Kili, Truman, and Rachel to answer as many of them as I can.

I received questions about if the Aviator Harness is chew proof, how do you avoid getting pooped on, is it ok to use a harness on a bird that is scared of things, can an older set in it's ways parrot still learn to wear the aviator harness, what is the smallest size parrot that can wear a harness, can a budgie wear a harness, how do you keep the parrot from flying off, how to get the parrot not to chew the harness, and how to get the parrot to stop being afraid of the harness.

I start this 30 minute long video by showing you how Rachel, my Blue and Gold Macaw, voluntarily puts the Aviator Harness on herself. She has been trained using the same method that is explained in my book and harness training DVD.

In order for a parrot to not be scared of the harness, not chew it, and be good at putting it on, it is really important to begin with the proper training. How to teach a parrot to wear a harness is explained in my Harness Training DVD:

However, you can't just harness train a parrot that doesn't allow you to handle it or doesn't yet know how to train. It is really important that you first learn the basics of taming and training and apply them to your parrot. How to tame and prepare your parrot before beginning the harness training, is explained in my book, The Parrot Wizard's Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots:
