Obra comentada: Noli me tangere, de Pedro Núñez del Valle

Leticia Ruiz, Jefe del Departamento de Pintura Española del Renacimiento, comenta la obra de arte Noli me tangere (1630-1635), de Pedro Núñez del Valle.

La pintura representa el encuentro entre María Magdalena y Jesucristo resucitado y sigue una composición de Durero. Son característicos de este pintor madrileño formado en Roma los tipos humanos, el colorido, la iluminación influencia de Caravaggio y el paisaje derivado del clasicismo boloñés. La tipología del marco es toscano-emiliana de la primera mitad del siglo XVII, con carnosas hojas de acanto en la entrecalle.

Leticia Ruiz, Head of the Department of Spanish Renaissance Painting at the Museo del Prado, comments on the work Noli me tangere (1630-1635), by Pedro Núñez del Valle.

As depicted here, the encounter between Mary Magdalene and the resurrected Christ follows a composition by Dürer. Characteristic of this painter, born in Madrid and trained in Rome, are the human types, the Caravaggesque influence on the colouring and light, and the landscape deriving from Bolognese classicism. The frame is of the Tuscan and Emilian type of the first half of the seventeenth century, with fleshy acanthus leaves on the central division.
