26 October 2020. Dutch producers and songwriters Rob and Ferdi Bolland are working together again after twenty years of no contact. They told Dutch daily paper De Telegraaf that they are participating in a musical about the Austrian musician Falco. The musical will premiere in 2021 or according to Ferdi "after corona pandemonium". "New songs have to be written for new roles to be added to the story," explains Rob.
A Viennese producer approached the brothers for the musical project.
In the 1990s, the Bolland brothers already participated in two musicals about Falco, the stage name of Johann (Hans) Hölzel, born and raised in Vienna.

Falco's first hit was ‘Der Kommissar’. He sings in the dialect he invented: "Manhattan-Schönbrunner-Deutsch", a mix of Viennese dialect, High German and English.
The song produced by Robert Pronger reached a modest 12th place in the Top 40 in the Netherlands, but in Germany and Austria it reached the first place, in Switzerland the 2nd and even in New Zealand, Norway and Sweden it reached the top 5.
The song became an evergreen over the years and is arguably the first European rap record.
His Toppop recording of ‘Der Kommissar’ was first aired in March 1982.


Years later Falco recorded Bolland & Bolland’s composition ‘Rock Me Amadeus’ which became a worldwide hit in 1985. It became # 1 in America, UK, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Sweden and # 2 in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. It is the only German-language song to ever reach 1st place in America. Also his single ‘Jeanny became a no. 1 hit.
