The Taking Over "Gang Day" event hosted at Apple Valley Speedway was a drift track Takeover and Sideshow Car Meet in California, with Car Enthusiasts, Gearheads and fans of Modified Cars coming out the race track and skid pad to enjoy burnouts, cars doing donuts and even some drifting action! A huge variety of modified cars showed up to hit the drift track, including E39 BMWs, Infiniti G35s and even a lifted El Camino! Neither the Lexus LS400 or Foxbody Mustang are commonly seen drifting, but this event had it all, including a turbocharged Nissan 240SX. An Infiniti G37 Sedan drifted until the bumper was almost destroyed, and then as we headed over to the Skid Pad and Donut Pit, a pair of Pontiac G8 doing Donuts were joined by a modified Camaro SS backfiring exhaust flames! A Dodge Charger doing donuts and swinging came next, followed by some drifting Fox Body Mustangs doing donuts! A highlight of the night was seeing a custom C6 Corvette build, named the 'Driftvette', the modified Chevrolet Corvette doing donuts went hard, smoking tires, powersliding and pulling the e-brake to get sideways! The Corvette left the pit as hot as it came in, doing a standstill burnout and brakestand, before walking it out! Another muscle car with exhaust flames, a Cadillac CTSV doing donuts opened up the doors sideshow style, and an F Body Camaro doing donuts was next. The modified Corvette returned, and was joined by a drifting Infiniti G37 and BMW E36, as the donut pit looked a little crowded, but real drivers don't panic! A boosted 240sx did donuts while the driftvette shredded and destroyed tires, and the skid pad looked like a sideshow with an F Body Camaro, Pontiac G8, and WS6 Trans Am doing donuts at the same time! A pair of Single Cab Chevrolet Silverados doing donuts in Tandem put on a show for the crowd, as the OBS Silverado swinging hit the rev limiter, and an Infiniti G35 sedan hopped in with them too. A heavily modified, drag spec Foxbody Mustang was popular with the crowd; they swarmed as the big turbo Mustang rolled into the pit for a display of power and boost! The final scenes of this action packed video include a 2 step battle and rev off between an Infiniti G37 exhaust and Loud 5.0 Mustang, as well as the recovery of a Nissan 350Z that crashed into the tire wall whilst full send drifting! The Car Culture Community in Southern California is an example of strong unity and diversity, with both drivers and spectators from all different backgrounds and races, coming together and uniting because of their shared automotive passion.
