The Beatniks - Radio One 91FM Live To Air

When it comes to carrying the torch, The Beatniks are ahead of the pack. A second-coming of the iconic Dunedin Sound from the 80’s - The Beatniks are all killer, no filler. Known for their raucous live shows, ecstatic stage presence and frantic (but polished) musicality, we couldn’t say know when their name was pulled out of the Radio One Live To Air hat.

Strap in for this rollercoaster as this band defies categorisation, blending elements of early 2000s grunge, classic punk and even hints of a mellowed-out romantic ballad. All of this, however, comes together to create a masterpiece of DIY tunes with lyrics that will undoubtedly connect.

Last year, they celebrated the release of their debut album Archetype, and we were lucky enough to house their explosive energy. The Beatniks never disappoint with their performance, and they shook the entire booth throughout their set. Feel the energy pour through the screen and into your ears.

Be sure to keep an eye (and an ear) out for what’s to come from The Beatniks as they show no signs of slowing down.
