Loyston Point Campground, Norris Lake

Loyston Point Campground is located on picturesque Norris Lake in Andersonville, TN. Mike has been coming to Norris Lake his whole life and is very familiar with its many quiet coves and vast camping opportunities. Since August is his birthday month, we try to spend several weeks camping at Loyston Point each year, catching up on a little R&R on our favorite site (#10), which is waterfront and fairly private. Even though we are partial to this site, Loyston Point offers many beautiful waterfront sites, as well as heavily shaded sites set back in the woods.

Norris Lake is rated by many websites as Tennessee’s cleanest and #1 lake and is widely known for its teal blue waters surrounded by mountain views. Shorelines of limestone produce beautiful cliffs and rocky banks, but under the water a healthy ecosystem of many varieties of fish draw fishermen from around the country. Watersports are also a huge draw to this lake because the water is clean and moderate temperature during the summer months. We especially love swimming & exploring in the kayaks here.

Loyston Point Campground is managed by Recreational Resource Management (RRM) which maintains the grounds and facilities regularly and with pristine care. All RV sites have 30A power and a water source, however, due to TVA regulations there is no sewer available at the sites. There is a dump station and honey wagon available. Most of the sites are level and many can accommodate big rigs such as ours. Tent camping sites & cabins are also available for rent. A few of the waterfront sites are pull-thru but some have a bit of a slope at the ends of the driveway. The centers are flat, though, so if your rig has high ground clearance you should be fine. There are many amenities offered here: a beach/swimming area, hiking & biking trails, and a wide array of water equipment rentals. The campground is spread across a large parcel of land and leaves plenty of room for campers to roam and explore the grounds.

We had a wonderful time during the 3 weeks we spent here this August. The campground was nearly booked solid every weekend, so it became a bit crowded, but we thoroughly enjoyed the peace & quiet Mon-Thu. We also ran into a fellow YouTuber who happens to be from Tara’s hometown. Barratt from The Gimpy Camper and his family are great people. We spent some time comparing YouTube and RV life notes over a batch of Fajitas. He even lent us a new product to try out for our pups, The Rover Roamer.

We highly recommend this campground and cannot say enough good things about the management here. Please pay them a visit and tell them that Mike & Tara from Ramblin’ Home sent you.

Thanks for watching and safe travels!
