The Biggest Robbery In Monetary Value In The History Of Solomon Islands

The Bauxite mining that occured in West Rennell, Renbel Province In Solomon Islands is arguably the biggest robbery to ever happened in the country in terms of monetary value. 33 shipments of bauxite ores exported to mainland China valued at $SBD 288 millions and another $SBD 8 millions for landowners royalty payments being unaccounted for by the government of Solomon Islands. Other minerals besides bauxite were also robbed by foreign mining companies due to poor and outdated laws along with incompetent and corrupt Solomon Islands government officials.
The minister of mines Bradley Smoky Rodo Tovosia might say close to $288 millions worth of government revenue were lost but the figure might reach upto $ SBD 1 billions or more.
