Taino Healing Dance 2018

The Taino Healing Dance is derived from the ancient Taino areyto dance tradition. We Tainos have inherited a very specific dance tradition which includes a unique series of rhythmic arm and foot movements that has been confirmed to be of legitimate Arawakan Indigenous origin. On the island of Cuba the arm and foot movements that characterize this dance have been retained in the highly syncretic Spiritist CORDON dance practiced in a remote site of Bayamo region called Monte Oscuro. The Cordon Dance tradition of Monte Oscuro was featured in the well-researched book by Jose Antonio Garcia Molina called Huellas Vivas Del IndoCubano as a legitimate direct derivation of ancient Cuban Taino dance tradition. Identical arm and foot movements have been registered in the dance tradition of other Arawakan people of the Caribbean such as the Kalinago of the island of Dominica and the Arawak Indigenous nations of South America such as the Wapishana and the Lokono of Guyana. This footage was filmed on location by Salvador Madera of RISING PHOENIX FILM WORKS https://www.risingphoenixfilmworks.com
