This concert pays homage to a highly influential alto saxophonist, David Sanborn. His distinct alto saxophone tone and blues-based improvisation impacted how the instrument should sound with the popularity of electric amplified musical instruments from the 1970s. A multiple Grammy Award-winner, Sanborn’s sound has been featured in artists from Miles Davis to Eric Clapton, James Brown to The Eagles. In this performance, audiences will get to hear songs from David Sanborn’s solo albums from the 1980s and 1990s that featured musical geniuses like Marcus Miller, Hiram Bullock, Steve Gadd and Bob James.

Fabian Lim - Saxophone
Fabian Lim has extensive saxophone, flute and clarinet performances and recordings with the likes of David Foster, Incognito, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dick Lee, Jeremy Monteiro, Iskandar Ismail, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, A-Mei, J.J. Lin, Stephanie Sun, Sandy Lam, Kit Chan, Sky Wu, Elva Hsiao, Joanna Dong, Rahimah Rahim, Taufik Batisah and many others. He has performed in many international events like the Tokyo Summersonic Festival, Java Jazz Festival, Batam Jazz Festival, Brisbane Arts Festival, Toronto’s International Association for Jazz Educators and Singjazz Festival, among many others. Lim is active in the musical theatre scene, playing in shows like Disney’s Aladdin, The Addams Family, Singing in the Rain, Crazy Christmas and Guys n’ Dolls. He works closely with musical theatre companies like Dream Academy and Pangdemonium in productions like Dim Sum Dollies, Broadway Beng, Crazy Christmas, A Full Monty, Urinetown and many others. Lim is also an experienced music educator, lecturer and instructor.

Euntaek Kim - Keyboards
Euntaek Kim (also known as E.T.) is a multi-instrumentalist based in Singapore. Having devoted much time and effort into becoming a musical chameleon—one that can comfortably blend into any musical situation presented—he has taken part in a wide variety of musical ensembles as a sideman, performing in various world-renowned music festivals such as Singapore Jazz Festival, Mosaic Music Festival and Jarasum Jazz Festival alongside international artists such as Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy and Hiatus Kaiyote. As part of critically acclaimed Singapore artist Charlie Lim's band, The Mothership, E.T. actively handles guitar and keyboard duties. He is also a mainstay in the group Tribal Tide, a world fusion band led by one of the region's top percussionists, Mohamed Noor.

Jia Rong - Drums
Trained in classical percussion, Jia Rong cut his teeth playing with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the Sembawang Wind Orchestra in his teens. His versatility shines through his collaborations with young and veteran musicians in the jazz and pop genres. Jia Rong has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the drumming world, including Chris Coleman, Eric Moore and Dave Elitch. As a session drummer, Jia Rong has played for notable artists like Joi Chua and Kit Chan, and Mandopop singer-songwriter WeiBird.

Casey Subramaniam - Bass
Casey Subramaniam is a multi-talented musician who picked up his skills in guitar, bass and singing at a very young age, gaining respect as a musician and a singer in the Asian and international music industry. At the age of 19. he had his very first performance as a soloist in All That Jazz, a famous jazz club in Kuala Lumpur, where his talent was spotted by many a musician, which led to offers to perform with some of the greatest musicians in Malaysia. Subramaniam then moved to Singapore, where he grew as a top session musician and a well-respected music educator.

Izhar Eiza - Guitar
Izhar Eiza is a talented guitarist from the Singapore Armed Forces Music & Drama Company who has performed with them in Australia, India and Brunei. He was crowned as the best guitarist in Yamaha Asian Beat Band Competition in 2016. Izhar’s public performances include sharing the stage with Sezairi, Nick Xavier, Roze Kasmani, Shigga Shay and many others. He has also performed in music festivals like Esplanade’s Mosaic Music Festival, Ignite!, Shine Festival and Singapore Night Festival.
