Pros and cons of living in North Carolina! North Carolina is experiencing a surge in people migrating from California & northern states. In fact, North Carolina is now the 5th fastest growing state according to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Pros:
Easier to live
Many times the allure of living in a large city can be intense, but surviving financially can be difficult. In theory, it takes nearly twice the salary to survive in San Diego, CA in comparison to Wilmington, NC.
According to Payscale.com, the average software engineer only makes $83,740!
Rents and home prices are double.
Electricity is %50 more expensive
Food is %20 percent more expensive
Coffee is %25 more expensive.
2. More Value
Californians are often quick to call North Carolina a "hick state" and dismiss it as lesser quality, but we have beaches, mountains, and huge metropolitan cities. In Wilmington, NC we have great beaches, employers, and a median home price of $200,000. Many Californians take their equity and buy a house in cash!
3. Growing Job Market and Economy
Economist are saying that job growth is some of the highest in US. Amazon, Google, Apple, and Microsoft all have a presence in NC. Employment gorwth is continued to exceed the average gorwth into the future with

Cons
It's a difficult place to "break-in" entertainment, finance, super high-tech.
If you want to live in cultural "hubs" or places you must live at to be in a certain occupation, NC may not be the best place simply because of geographic limitations.
