The NHL's Greatest PTO Contracts

In just 19 days time, the National Hockey League shall be taking to the ice after its shortest off-season ever and dropping the puck on the 21/22 season. Before opening night, each team has to conduct their respective pre-season training camps, and while these camps will be predominantly filled with full-time NHLers and promising prospects, there will be a number of league veterans taking part on a Professional Try-out Contract.

Though the majority of players who sign a PTO don't receive a full-time contract once pre-season is over, there have been many examples over the years of players who signed a PTO, earned a contract out of training camp and surpassed all expectations over the coming months.
