Part 2: Deviously Clever Mechanical Fraud On A F-250 Powerstroke Diesel

In order to hide the EGR cooler, oil cooler, or head gasket failure on a 2003 Ford F-250 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel a mechanic modified the coolant reservoir by plugging all the ports with RTV Silicone. This prevented the oil polluted coolant from flowing into the reservoir and being readily seen. A deviously clever hack if ever there was one.

But the fun did not stop there! I ultimately sold the vehicle as is, with full disclosure, to someone who seemed to be certain they knew what was wrong and could easily fix it. A couple months later, the cops came knocking at my door in the early morning because my car was on fire in the rough part of town. It turned out the title had never been transferred out of my name, and it had been torched. A short time later I was contacted by the insurance company because the buyer was filing an insurance claim for the damage. All kinds of suspicious things!
