Mirroring Azure SQL DB into Microsoft Fabric OneLake Demo
In this video, I’ll show you how to set up and configure Mirroring between an Azure SQL Database and Microsoft Fabric OneLake.
Mirroring is a powerful, low-latency replication feature that allows you to bring your operational data directly into Fabric for analytics without the overhead of building and managing complex ETL pipelines. I’ll walk you through the source-side prerequisites, the connection process in the Fabric portal, and demonstrate how data changes in your SQL database are reflected in near real-time within your Fabric workspace.
🚀 In This Video, We Cover:
Prerequisites: Configuring SQL Authentication and enabling System Assigned Managed Identity (SAMI) on your SQL Server.
Networking: Allowing Azure services to access your SQL server for seamless connectivity.
Database Options: Using the default "AdventureWorks" database versus custom databases for mirroring.
Fabric Implementation: Step-by-step guide to creating a Mirror SQL Database item and establishing a secure connection.
Data Type Limitations: Understanding which user-defined and unsupported data types will not replicate.
Real-time Sync Test: Demonstrating row deletion in Azure SQL and verifying the update in Fabric using the SQL Analytics endpoint.
