HOW LONG CAN TESLA MOTORS LAST?

There's a lot of warranty fulfillment centers for an internal combustion engine vehicle when it breaks down, but an electric motor has less chance of being repaired because it's relatively new. We are familiar with the cool attributes of Tesla electric vehicles - the instant torque, the greater efficiency, the regenerative braking - but have you ever worried that your favorite Tesla would break down from excessive mileage? Have you been afraid that your dual or triple Tesla variants would fail one of the motors? If those questions keep you from peace of mind, then allow me to resolve your questions in this episode of Tesla Fans.
WHY DOES TESLA HAVE DUAL MOTORS IN ITS VEHICLES?
The primary reason for using dual motors is to provide All Wheel Drive. If you have only a single motor, then only two wheels are driven or you have to add a driveshaft to transfer energy to all the wheels. By having two motors, one for each axle, you can have an All Wheel Drive. Going to 3 motors allows even more control as the two rear wheels will be independently powered and can be run at different rates. The most flexible is 4 motors, with each wheel being independently powered.
Additionally, as Tesla can regularly update the software for cars in their fleet, they can continually tweak and improve the algorithm used for All Wheel Drive. It’s also worth noting that All Wheel Drive benefits all driving (not just winter) and improves traction given that the torque is shared across all four wheels.

Gas and diesel engines use journal bearings, which have no moving parts, just an oil film. They mainly wear out from startup. If oil is maintained, they can last ~500K miles. The combination open differential and reduction gears in each drive unit present the minimum number of mechanical wear components between the electric motor/generator and drive wheels. Fewer moving parts mean fewer things to break or wear out. The Model 3 drive unit designs add a small external oil filter to facilitate oil changes and remove fine wear particulates to maximize longevity. In most engines, journal bearings are easily changed (working below, oil pan off). Severe forces like drag racing can damage journal bearings in one pass, which is why racers change them regularly. In general, roller bearings don’t last near as long, but it depends on how they were sized. With electric motors, stray currents (induced by magnetic fields) can pass through the rollers and spark which pits the metal surfaces and can cause rapid failure. In a Tesla tear-down video, the reviewer pointed to a coating that apparently is to help dissipate stray currents.
