He came to take a bride, but lost a companion. This story has a bit of everything, in a slightly nonsensical and old-school skiffy manner.
The original blurbs:
A story which juggles the vicissitudes of wild space adventuring with the earthern-crockery magic of an Earth turned primitive is Sam Carson’s gift to us here. And just to complete the spell—he adds an enchanting romance.
Ti-5 was a machine and Donn was a towering giant of a man. But one flaming purpose united them: “An Anarch of Gerek must wed!”
About the author:
Sam Carson (?-?) is one of the many invisible authors with little info on the internet. According to Fantastic Universe’s blurb on this story, he was a “veteran writer, TV and Radio editor, former roving newspaperman and father”; according to info I have found elsewhere, Samuel “Sam” Carson was a very prolific author. He published two hundred and forty (!) short stories across several genres such as Mainstream, War, Western, Sports, and that in a great many publications. Just nine of these are counted as Science Fiction. His first story saw print in 1922 and the last few in the mid 1950s, and one lonely straggler in 1971.
This narration was recorded in 2026.

Stories of Futures Past presents a vintage Science Fiction short story, narrated by myself, Tom Trussel. An actual, real living human being, warts and all.
Any and all voices and effects are produced live during reading with my actual voice. No obnoxious after effects, synthetic voices or filters used.
English is not my first language, inaccurate accents and the occasional strange pronunciation will happen. No mockery is intended.
These stories are good for English learners / ESL. The full text is right there on the screen in a big and easy to read font. Read along with me. It's great practice!
